I have read all of the books in the Whisper series. Ms Elizabeth writes a good story with intriguing twists that have me nodding, shaking my head, laughing, sighing.There were a number of things I liked about this book: Meg is in Las Vegas, accompanied by Colleen (an employee of Barringer and Associates), both sent by Peter. Usually, I am annoyed by such setting changes. They strike me as the author has run out of approaches to move the story forward. Not so in this story! The story moves quickly, shifting between Meg's perspective and the perspective of Rain, Meg's partner at Barringer and Associates.
Meg and Rain have had a strained relationship from before the establishment of their partnership. The distance between Las Vegas and Whisper seems to have a positive impact on their difficult interactions. I hope what I see here will be expanded upon in the next novel.
I was surprised to see frequent references to Zari behaving more like a typical cat...washing her paws, resting her head on her leg. I liked this. She may be a cat who is not a cat, and yet she is a cat.
Here's what I think: read the other books first. This isn't a stand-alone. You need the history to understand the characters and the action. When you have read those, leap in, immerse yourself in this quick and fun book by Bonnie Elizabeth. You will enjoy the time you spend!
